Crafty Time

So I try really really hard not to get onto my Pinterest account too often.  It can be fun but addicting (which can turn into a lot of time wasted-at least for me). But every once in a while I need a project, an idea, or help. This time I needed to find something to replace my Valentine's Day wreath, so I thought something for St.Patrick's Day would be fun. It won't be up very long because Easter is coming in March this year but I can enjoy it for a little bit.

Last night B went to bed by eight and Jared needed to do some work in the den, so I vegged out on the couch watching Harry Potter and crafting. I was able to put this baby together in an hour and a half. I was thrilled to start and finish a project so quickly, watch on of my favorite movies, and just have me time. It was glorious. AND I love how it turned out.

I got the idea from Pinterest which lead me to this gem. The tutorial says to use a wire hanger...to save myself the grief of taking one apart (which I did once), I just purchased a foam wreath from JoAnns.
This is now in my entry way and I'm in love. The cute subway art I found for free and printed at Costco. Thanks to the lovely ladies who were so willing to share!

Being able to just sit and craft was so relaxing. I think I will need to take time for it more often!

Random Updates

Life just keeps going as we know it. I wouldn't say we live exciting lives but we're happy. February came and went in a blink of an eye. We did celebrate Valentine's Day. We were also able to make it back to the park a few times...it's tricky here in Seattle with the rain. We've discovered B's favorite activity at the park is the tower of rope on a merry-go-round.

B still loves story time in his book corner....

We have had some crazy bed-head around here. The minute I got him out of his crib I thought of Syndrome from The Incredibles...Am I the only one to see the resemblance (of the hair)?

A couple of weeks ago B and I both came down with a really nasty week-long cold. I learned to prop him up on the floor with a pillow for nap time so he could breathe.

And we've been practicing with real sippy cups (not the ones with the straw that he's been using) and utensils:

He's also learned to climb in the last few days. (Ask me how excited I am about this.)

But with all the crazies of a one year old, he's still SO cute-

I think we'll keep him.

For the Aunties...

This video is for the aunties (and any other family and friends) who can't get enough of Baby B. If you're sick about reading about Baby B, feel free to skip this post. This is just a quick video of Baby B...there is music playing from the toy but it's hard to hear because we have water running in the background. But the dancing is cute, enjoy!

Happy Valentine's Day

So I'm only a week late and if you've seen my blog you will know that this is actually really good for me and so I'm not even going to apologize. (Okay maybe I'm a little bit sorry.)

So for every Valentine's Day that Jared and I have been together we have celebrated by eating at Maggiano's (a delicious Italian place with huge portions so we always get to go home with leftovers). However, this is the first year we actually went and ate ON Valentine's Day. We decided that we love Baby B and this holiday is about celebrating love so we took him with us. He was a gem! He just sat and smiled and waved at everyone. He played with his free crayons and ate bread and noodles and never made loud noises. (Are we sure this is my kid?) We had a fabulous time and we went at like 3:00 so it wasn't crazy busy and we could enjoy the quiet. And then my sweet husband took me to the Container store as my gift (along with some beautiful flowers). This place is organizer's heaven. There were things I wanted to get just because they were awesome, but I was good and stuck to the reason I wanted to go-racks for my cans in my pantry. Now I have the racks and my pantry looks great (well that shelf anyway) and I even found a bathroom drawer organizer that I love. I know, nothing screams Happy Valentine's Day like organizing things, but it did for me.  (Jared knows me really well.)

In the background you will see a darling little girl...pretty sure Baby B had a Valentine by the end of dinner-they totally flirted. So cute.

Happy Birthday Baby B!

Sorry this post is a few weeks late.....life gets you sometimes, ya know? So without further ado:

Say what?! My baby had a birthday?! That's crazy...he will now be aged not by months but by years and that's really really weird. I cannot believe that over a year ago I grew a whole human in me and then pushed him out, and he was so wonderful and beautiful and I didn't think I could love him more than in that moment. I was wrong. Each day is amazing and he melts my heart every day. And believe it or not, I do love him more each day.

In 12 months he's gone from this:

To this:

We were so blessed that all of Jared's family could come to celebrate with us. We spent the day at the Children's Museum in Seattle and then came back to the house for dinner, presents, and cake. I'm not going to get into details...but we'll just say that this first time mommy's expectations were thrown a little off skilter. Baby B's schedule was super thrown off and he was not in the mood to party, but we had a great time with family and I am happy with the way his cake turned out. So I'll just post some pictures from here and say that I love you baby boy and I'm so grateful that you are part of our little family. Happy Birthday!!
